September started off with some beautiful warm and sunny hiking days and boy did we enjoy these views for a while. Here hiking in the Engelberg Valley with a panoramic view over the Walenstock, the Walenpfad and all the way over a clear blue Vierwaldstättersee to Luzern. September hiking at its best always includes a stop for a drink and a light lunch at a cute little Alp. Here a stop at Haghütte where they make their own cheese, have happy pigs chilling around in the sun and serve a very delicious Bratchäs. Just to go there and check out the cute decor is worth the hike. The weather however change somewhat during mid September and we were greeted by snowy mountain tops and chillier weather.
Unfortunately that also meant that we had a very wet Herbstmarkt... but that didn't stop us or any of our amazing guests to pop by for a coffee on the market day in Engelberg. Maybe it was just the urge to be the first one to get their hands on this seasons Blue Bird that annually launches on Herbstmarkt. For you who haven't tried it yet, its a medium roasted 100% Arabica blend that shows hints of cranberry and is rounded off with black tea notes. Come by the shop and try it out as an Americano, it will certainly leave an impression. Or just order a bag of Blue Bird online to try in your favorite coffee maker at home.
October always starts off busy during the school autumn breaks and we certainly don't mind. Fun events around town, restaurant menus filled with delicious Wilt and Dorfstrasse buzzing with happy hiker and biker kids. During Oktober every year since 2015 we also have the pleasure of enjoying some classical music "Zwischentöne" at the Engelberg Monastery. Check out more here and get your tickets for one of the remaining concerts.
Lets just hope this autumn gives us some more crispy days for hiking and to enjoy the golden and burgundy splashed panorama before snow and winter really kicks in. Autumn is really a magical season in the mountains.
